This text is intended to provide a concise yet comprehensive review of pharmacology for clinicians in training or practice. Section I of the text introduces basic principles of pharmacology while section II is titled drug classes. The drug classes are broken down by body system or drug grouping. For instance the cardiology chapter (26 pages) covers drugs affecting the heart and vascular system. While the pulmonary system chapter includes drug affecting pulmonary smooth muscle or pulmonary vasculature. Sometimes matching placement of a drug with the breakdown of drug classes is not always intuitive. For instance opioids are found in the chapter entitled neurology and the neuromuscular system. I would have preferred a chapter on pain to include the opiods, NSAIDs ect. used to manage pain. The organization of section II is my only complaint about the text. There are many color figures which very nicely depict action of the drug. While this is may not be a stand alone pharmacology text, it is a very nice supplement or review text. I would especially recommend it for visual oriented learners. Comments about research studies relative to the different drugs are also found throughout the tex. I give this text 4 stars only because I am not yet comfortable with the organization of the drug classes section. Otherwise a very nice review text.

Love this book! A great resource for pharmacology courses. Probably a little in depth for undergrad, but perfect for my graduate level prescribers course. Breaks down material into well organized, easy to understand material. Will be keeping this one for a reference!
