I used this book as my primary study guide for the NPTE. It was well organized with lots of pictures and tables to emphasize important information. It was easier for me to follow than the O'sullivan book (secondary source), but not as thorough. The O'sullivan book is filled with LOTS of information, some of which is far too detailed. Giles did a good job eliminating the excess. However there were some sections, such as orthotics/prosthetics, which were not nearly as detailed as I would have liked. In these cases, I used O'sullivan to fill in the gaps where I felt I needed more information. Really, that's all I used the O'sullivan book for. Also, the practice tests in the Giles book were more representative as far as layout and quality of questions.

I just passed the NPTE after taking it 7/31/12. I almost exclusively used this book for content review and its very helpful due to the great organization, color coding, and concise nature of the information. This being said, the 3 practice tests included in the CDROM are significantly easier then either the real exam, the PEAT exams, or the O Sullivan exams. These exams test more of your ability to regurgitate information from the book as most questions are almost direct quotes from the books content. I would buy this book for content review but use PEAT for practice tests. Even though there are only 2 PEAT tests, they are by far the most accurate representation in terms of content and difficulty of the real exam. O Sullivan's tests are too difficult and several of their questions are unclear and/or have poor explanations for answers. Good Luck!
