Bacteria (e.g., gram-positive, anaerobic, etc.) and laboratory procedures (e.g., antimicrobial agents and susceptibility tests) are clustered in seven unique sections. Chapter study questions and a 100-question comprehensive exam are included.

This book covers, concisely and completely, everything covered in my Clinical Laboratory Science bacteriology course. The questions at the end of each chapter are probably very much like the questions on our board exams--they are very similar to the ones on my instructor's exams. I like this book so much that I feel a (weak but detectable) impulse to chew out said instructor when classes resume in the Fall. She really should have required it, or even listed it as recommended on the syllabus.
This isn't the book for a general microbiology course, or probably even for a medical school microbiology course, but it's perfect for CLS/MT courses. It covers all of the appropriate laboratory testing methods for the most commonly seen (and some not-so-common) bacterial species. It's best as a supplement to a good clinical or general microbiology text. But it's still outstanding.

The author was one of my instructors at UAMS in Little Rock, AR. It is by far one of the best books I have read. Excellent.
