I love this book. About 8 years ago I was clued in to the EMRA Abx Guide. Initially I was hesitant to trust it and I carried a Sanford as well. After confirming many treatments between both references, and finding them much faster in the EMRA Guide, I have been hooked ever since. The new 2013 Antibiotic Guide builds upon the previous editions of this very helpful book. There is also a smartphone app (but I haven't seen the new edition's app).
Pros: Easy to find treatments based on body system/diagnosis. They seem to do a great job keeping this book up to date and relevant. Saves a lot of time over many of the other ABX references. Helpful to any medical practitioner, not just ER.
Cons: In previous editions the pediatric dosing was somewhat confusing, I think it seems to have been improved for this edition.
Bottom line: Very handy little book, well worth the price.

I am a physician and this book works very well in the ED and the Urgent Care. Quick and concise. I have owned the past three editions and it continues to improve. Much easier to access than the Sanford guide. Not as in depth. Text easy to read.
